Who makes Wick & Weigh

Wick & Weigh is a small, independent website of free calculators for people who make and sell candles. It is run by a small independent publisher that builds practical calculator websites, and it is paid for by ads.

We are not candle makers

We want to be upfront about this. We do not run a candle business and we did not learn these numbers at the pouring bench. What we do well is careful arithmetic and careful reading. So instead of asking you to trust our experience, every calculator shows its working and links to where its numbers come from: supplier wax guides, manufacturer spec sheets, wick charts and federal labeling rules.

When we built the calculators, we checked each one against two or three existing calculators from candle supply shops and tools makers already use, and wrote down where they differ and why. You can read that on the how we check the numbers page.

What we are trying to do differently

• Show disagreements. When suppliers publish different limits for the same wax, we show all of them, side by side, on the wax specs page.
• Cover the selling side. Label net weight, platform fees and postage are as much a part of a candle business as wax, so they get their own calculators.
• Print what you need. Results are laid out as a pour sheet you can print and pin above the bench.

Tell us when we are wrong

Candle makers know things no spec sheet says. If a number here does not match your experience, or a supplier has changed a page, email [email protected]. We read everything and fix mistakes quickly, and we would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong.

Safety

Our results are planning estimates. Always follow your wax, wick and fragrance supplier’s instructions, test burn every new combination, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
